So… in news that you didn’t know you needed to hear until you heard it, it looks like Michael Bay, the director that’s usually associated with blowing lots of shit up all the time, will be starting the next chapter in his cinematic career: a Dora The Explorer live-action movie.
I know right, I can hardly contain my excitement.
It turns out that the project is shaping up at Paramount’s new Paramount Players division. Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller have already put their hands up to produce the movie.
The script, which is being penned by Muppets and Neighbors director Nick Stoller, will see Dora aged up and the story will focus on her moving to the city to be with her cousin Diego.
I’m excited to see which young adult problems we’ll get to see Dora handle. Heartbreak? Trying to fit in? Smuggling vodka bottles into your friend’s house and then pretending that you’re tired while actually dealing with the world’s shittiest hangover?
The possibilities are endless!
Apparently, a Dora The Explorer movie has been in the works since around 2015, and while there hasn’t been a confirmed release date just yet, apparently Paramount is keen on a 2019 release.
As always, we’ll be sure to bring you any new info on what looks like it will be the blockbuster of the year.
