It’s fair to say that no one is immune to having a boogie and sing-song when you’re driving, even more so when the track in question is an absolute BANGING 90’s chune that transports you to another time and space entirely.
So, you’d probably consider yourself pretty hard done by if you were simply enjoying the delights of nostalgic music when you found yourself pulled over and hit with a pretty nasty fine, right?
Well, that’s exactly what happened to one Canadian bloke on his way to pick up some water. Apparently, Taoufik Moalla was cheerfully singing along to the delightful 1990 C+C Music Factory song, “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)”when he heard the dreaded wailing of sirens behind him.
“I was thinking they wanted to pass, but they called on the speaker ‘Please go to the right side,’” said Moalla. “I stopped and four police came, two on each side, and checked the inside of the car. Then they asked me if I screamed. I said no, I was just singing.”
The coppers proceeded to check his licence and registration and came back with a ticket for screaming in his car and disturbing the peace. Which, let’s be honest, is an absolute bullshit fine that any other person would be disgusted at, but Moalla seemed to be keeping his cool.
“I said okay, thank you, because I know I can contest the ticket. They were doing their job.”
He’s done that and is now in the lengthy and drawn-out process of getting a trial. He said his defence was him literally telling the judge how he got the ticket, which, after he hears about how absolutely fucking absurd the situation is, he should be free to go.
