It’s an all too familiar sight: a bunch of mates slumped into their deck chairs, sitting around an increasingly warm esky, with no one sober enough to tackle the mission of grabbing another bag of ice. What are you to do in this situation? Try and shove another tinnie in the already packed fridge, or trek to the nearest servo for a bag of ice that’ll be melted by the time you get back?
Thankfully, the good people of Uber have a solution. Starting at 11 am on Australia Day, UberEats users in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth will be able to get a frosty bag of frozen water delivered straight to their backyard. All you have to do is type in “backyardhero” into UberEats and watch as an extremely sweaty UberEats driver tips your ice straight into the esky.
What’s more, if you’ve never had a fanging for some late night munchies and haven’t utilised the magic of UberEats, you’ll get your bag of ice for free! If you have used the service before, you’ll have to pay $5 for the ice and another $5 for delivery. But hey, no one has to journey up the molten hot tarmac road for a bag of ice, so you can’t really complain.
