The traditional late-night munchies choice of many stoners, Taco Bell, looks set to be gracing our mighty shores. What’s more, the good people of Brisbane are going to be the first to try it.
That’s right, Taco Bell will be gracing the Sunshine State with a brand new store, located at the Annerley site that housed salad bar gods Sizzler until it was bulldozed in July.
This isn’t the first time the Mexican fast food chain has attempted to take over the market down under, the company originally tried to penetrate the Australian market in the 90’s but ultimately called it quits in 2005.
Fresh speculation has arisen following a series of job advertisements posted by the company, searching for people to man the new Annerley store, though posts have now been deleted.
Former Taco Bell boss Greg Creed hinted that we might see a return from the chain in 2014 in an interview with the Courier Mail.
“Mexican food, which wasn’t (widely) available five years ago, is now available. There’s obviously always been a lot of Asian food, but I’m really just blown away by the quality of food and restaurants that I’ve had a chance to visit while I’ve been here. So you should never say never (to Taco Bell re-entering Australia),” he said.
The job descriptions also asked for people with current RSA’s, so you’ll be able to continue the lovely tradition of getting absolutely cunted on Corona’s at a Mexican restaurant.
