Nirvana fan? Sufferer of really temperamental writer’s block? Just one of those people who will do anything for an Instagram upload? Well, now you can rent Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s old Los Angeles one bedroom apartment on Airbnb, which they called home in the 90’s.
Brandon Kleinman, the current tenant of the apartment, spoke with Vulture about how he wound up owning the dwelling. “The day I signed the lease, I was sitting with the landlord and as soon as I signed on the dotted line, he said, ‘Okay, now I can tell you the real story behind this apartment,’” he said, explaining, “He kept it a secret because he wasn’t getting great tenants when he advertised the apartment’s back story. He went on to tell me about what it was like having Kurt Cobain live here, and what to watch for. It’s been funny. Once every 60 days or so, I’ll get a weird, older gentleman, a rocker-type dude, sort of a burnout, knocking on the door, saying, ‘Do you know what used to happen here?’”
And now Kleinman is renting it out on AirBNB for $150 a night, which is a reasonable price for anyone who values experiences that are hard to come by. The listing comes at the same time as the hype surrounding Montage Of Heck peaks. The doco is playing at the Tribeca Film Festival before airing on HBO on May 4.
