Now living in Japan, Australian artist Ben Frost hasn’t lost the kind of humour inherent to our great nation. Despite this, he’s most certainly gained a broader view of the world, evident in his pop-art body of work, which fuses references of Japanese Manga with general commercial trash. The result? A brilliant, awkward, wonderful affair that’s far better than doing anything work-related on a Thursday.
According to Dangerous Minds, Frost has a fairly interesting past. “In 2000 the artist faked his own death as a publicity stunt to promote his solo-show of the same name and invitations to the event consisted of Frost’s “faux funeral” notice. Later that same year a painting at the show “Colussus”—a collaboration with fellow artist Rod Bunter—was slashed
apart by an attendee. ”
