Science has come a long way. We can traverse the depths of the ocean with submarines, use innovative technology to find cures for diseases and most importantly, use laser cutting technology to make a bust out of beloved Fast and Furious actor Vin Diesel out of ham and cheese.
William Osman has a YouTube channel where he does “projects that revolve around film tech and robotics.” In his words, he enjoys making himself “look like a moron on the internet.” The electrical and mechanical engineer from California responded to a viewer who requested that he “Please sculpt a bust of Vin Diesel using laser cut cross sections of laser sliced ham.” Taking the somewhat peculiar request in his stride, Osman set to work using his laser cutter and two large, cheap and “dirty” block of ham and cheese.
Speaking to Munchies, Osman explained that the bust was made by CameraManJohn (John Willner) in eight hours, which is just the right amount of time to spend designing a rather busty looking Vin Diesel statue. The pair then spent an hour and a half loading the ham onto the laser cutter and assembling the ham and cheese atrocity.
Have a gander at the video below, and for anyone else that wants to build an edible bust of their favourite actor, Will says to “Just do it, follow your dreams.” Inspirational.
