Watching sports can be one of the most engaging and thrilling things you can do, but it can also be more boring than having a lecturer who doesn’t allow phones. You could potentially watch hours and hours of sport without seeing a single goal, or be left utterly miserable by the result and have your day ruined.
Not to mention the dreadful post-match interviews, where players say some pre-rehearsed line about how “The boys gave it their all today” or that they were “Just looking for the win today”.
Seeing people fuck up is among one of my favourite pastimes, so it was an absolute delight when Ghanian soccer player Mohammed Anas’ routine post-match interview took a rather unexpected turn.
Anas was accepting the man of the match award after an incredible performance for his team, in which he bagged 2 goals in his Free State Stars team’s 2-2 draw against Ajax Cape Town last Friday.
The interview started out familiarly, Anas took the opportunity to thank his fans before moving to the relatively predictable route of thanking his loved ones. Then things got interesting as a look of pure terror swept his face when he accidentally thanked his side piece.
Old mate tried to make up for it by looking into the camera with pure desperation and saying “I’m so sorry, my wife! I love you so much from my heart.” He proceeds to thank everyone for the support and looks like he wants to crawl in a deep, dark hole and leave there for the next 800 years.
