I can’t be the only person that spent many an hour parked in front of the TV, thrashing Spyro on my PS1 and hoping that Mum didn’t call me for dinner anytime soon.
Well, with any luck I certainly won’t be the last because it looks like Spyro is going to be stepping into the present day with a remastered release similar to that of Crash Bandicoot.
According to Kotaku, the remaster will be announced in March for Ps4, where it will have exclusivity for a year before it will be ported to a bunch of other platforms as well.
Much like the previously remastered Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, Spyro will feature new assets, lighting, animations, cinematics and a remastered soundtrack as well.
There will also be updates to the save system, namely updating it to something from this decade and overall making the game that little bit more enjoyable to play.
The remaster will include Spyro the Dragon, Ripto’s Rage!, and Year of the Dragon, and it’s looking fairly promising that they’re going to include some content from the originals as well.
I for one am absolutely fanging to get stuck into one of my favourite childhood games, it’s looking like a September release is likely as it aligns with Spyro’s 20th anniversary, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
