The Australian music scene’s ticket situation is in a bit of a sorry state. Although festivals like Splendour In The Grass have pretty much nailed it with their resell marketplace, there are still hundreds of venues that sell out too quickly, leaving people desperate to see their favourite artists.
Whenever there are desperate people, there are people desperate to take advantage of them. Ticket scalpers have become an increasingly real problem in recent years, I had a friend try and buy a Listen Out ticket on Viagogo (AKA Hell itself) and would have had to pay over $500 for a ticket that is originally 140ish.
That is fuuuuuuucked.
So good on the social media lords for FOMO Festival, as they took one bloke selling a ticket for an exuberant price as an opportunity to school people on how to not be shitbag human beings.
Old mate Reilly made the terrible decision of being both a ticket scalper AND leaving his order number in a screenshot he put in the post. ROOKIE MISTAKE BUD.
$350 to see Post Malone for a concert that was originally just $71 is gross, and it makes you wonder what the state of the music scene is going to be if we keep allowing people to flog tickets that have absolutely no intention of going in the first place.
