The dab is truly a beautiful thing. Never before has a dance move so simple yet so rewarding captured the hearts of millions around the world. Literally, all you have to do is bring your elbow to your face, preferably in time to the beat, and there you have it, a dance move so simple that even a toddler could do it.
While the dab might be held in high esteem by a number of good-time-havers and party animals around the globe, it’s not without its critics. Namely, Saudi Arabia, who have actually outlawed the dance as they believe it relates to drugs and narcotics.
A young Saudi singer recently experienced Saudi Arabia’s less than favourable stance on the dab, when he decided to bust the move while he was performing at a musical contest over the weekend.
Abdallah Al Shaharani was mid-performance when he thought he’d liven up the crowd with a little bit of illegal dancing. Before he was even arrested, old mate clearly realised he’d monumentally fucked up, and issued an apology on twitter.
“I apologize to our respected government and to my audience for unintentionally and spontaneously making the dance move at Taif festival. Please accept my apology…”
The public is fairly split on the arrest, with some people saying that he knew it was illegal and he was simply taunting authorities, while others have pointed out that he’s not the only Saudi singer to bust out the move mid performance.
It isn’t currently clear as to what old mate’s fate will be. But it’s safe to assume he’ll be dabbing on them haters from the comfort of a Saudi Arabian prison.
