Uber Teams With Optus To Bring You Free Wi-Fi During Your Ride

I’ve always been fairly happy with my bottled water and Mentos, but ridesharing company Uber haven’t grown complacent. In an announcement made yesterday, the San Fransisco-born company stated they would be teaming up with Optus to bring free Wi-Fi to Uber X vehicles across Melbourne and Sydney. The initial trial will be rolled out in 100 cars and allow connectivity for up to 10 devices, meaning everyone inside can watch porn simultaneously.

The new roll-out will also see Uber drivers get discount Optus mobile and data plans, with “unlimited calls and texts, 300 minutes of international calls and 10GB of data.”

Optus local markets director Steve Long spoke at length about the new deal, stating it would “create a truly connected experience for drivers and riders”.

“Uber has fundamentally changed the way we think about getting from point A to point B. Recognising that online access is a critical component of the Uber experience, we are offering exclusive offers to both drivers and passengers.”

The added feature comes just weeks after Uber engaged in a national PR blitz, offering everything from puppies to Gelato Messina to people all throughout Australia. And with the way the company are heading, there’s no doubt the Wi-Fi will spread far and wide in the not too distant future.
