At 9am this morning, the Parliamentary Liberal Party met to decide on whether Tony Abbott will remain in the position of Australian Prime Minister. The question on everyone’s mind was simple: could Tony Abbott survive after the flurry of poor decisions and the resultant public disapproval of just about everything he does? The answer is yes, at least for now.
61 people supported Abbott (or, at the very least, were against the idea of kicking him out), while 39 people wanted him gone. Just moments ago, he release a prerecorded statement/press conference that was oddly short.
“The Liberal Party has dealt with the spill motion, and this matter is behind us. We are absolutely determined to work for you, the people who elected us. We think that when you elect a government, when you elect a Prime Minister, you deserve to keep that government or Prime Minister until you have a chance to change your mind.”
