It’s extremely hard to believe there’s still room for innovation in the craft beer world. Every twirled-moustache this side of Surry Hills has had a crack at the small batch brewing. On the rare occasion I take the ambitious route and venture outside of my regular pub, the influx of ingredients I’ve found in beer has been admirable (if nothing else).
While many whinge about the craft beer revolution, it’s not a bad thing. To stifle innovation is silly, especially when there’s no one stopping you from wandering back over to the XXXX isle and purchasing whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. But whatever your preferences, the new Wabbit Season beer from 4Hearts Brewing Company will go down like something you’ve never tasted before (because, you haven’t).
As the dad joke of a name would suggest, it’s brewed from carrots. Reports state the beer is as orange as a cup of Fanta and tastes strongly of carrots. It was a collaboration between the brewery and local farmer Richard Gorman, and so far they’ve released 1,200 litres of the stuff.
Whether or not carrots in beer are your thing, and uses produce that may otherwise be wasted. According to Gorman, “one of the things that does annoy us as a producer – to go out to the waste bin and have a look at some of the things that are perfectly edible but don’t get sold.”
Good stuff.
