Style Of Eye has become a Swedish sensation since breaking through the industry in 2009. This maestro has made an outstanding name for himself with a heap of first class productions being supported by the likes of major league talent, some of which include Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, and Crookers. His work cannot be categorized as one particular style of electronic dance music because of the way he stirs every type of genre into his set of productions. His mind comes to life in every track, and certainly sets him apart from the competition. Not only is he busy in his studio life but he has traveled extensively, touring all over the world, leaving fans in America, Canada, Singapore, and even India in awe of his high quality DJ sets. With a tonne in store for us in 2012, you should keep a watchful eye on the ever spiraling producer. Not too long ago I had the opportunity to sit down with the nice lad and get a dose of what his world is looking like. Take a look down below!
Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with us. First off – you are in the middle of a stellar music career thus far, what started it all for you?
I think banging on pots in the kitchen was the first time I made music.. but I had a year in the US when I was 15 and went to my first raves there and that really opened my mind up to dance music.
What is a typical day in the life for Style of Eye?
Studio, studio, studio if I’m not flying out for a show somewhere.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Can be anything really, but I get a good kick from hearing my friends play me something I haven´t heard before.
What came first for you? DJing or producing?
They came pretty much at the same time.
What’s it like for you to see the Swedish dance community get some high praise these last couple of years? Are you overwhelmed to be apart of all the talk?
Its a cool thing to see many of your friends that comes from the same area blow up, but to be honest I dont think about it that much, its still the same, we really support each other and there are many artists before us that made all this possible so we try and make the most to push it forward.
You have remixed a wide variety of pretty big artists, so i’d like to know who’s another artist you would like to remix or possibly collaborate with?
There are many dream-collabs, but if I need to choose one then I´ll go with Joanna Newsom.
What are some of your goals for 2012?
Finish my second album as Style Of Eye.
How often are you in the studio? And on the topic of studio’s, what do you use?
Mentally, I’m in the studio 24/7. Physically, as much as I can but I make a lot of music when I travel too. I work in Logic.
Let’s roll into some fun shall we? Are you a good cook?
Not sure I’d say I’m a great cook, though I´m very good at not following recipes.
Favorite cuisines? Drink of choice?
Thai food, and coconut water.. I´m addicted to that water.
Besides music, what do you like to keep busy with?
I’m into Chinese traditional medicine, and do as much Qigong as I can.
Top 3 tracks at the moment?
DJ Carli – Doctor. Galantis – Tank and Tommy Trash´s next release.
Standout in your career thus far? Any memories that you hold dear to your heart?
Fusion Festival in Germany 2010, that was my first big festival gig. over 10.000 in the crowd and the energy was amazing. Becoming a resident at Mansion Miami this year after the premier night, it was very special.
Thank you for the time, any final words to your fans who are reading this?
Thank you for all the support, without you and the blogs, and the magazines, artists would have no-one to share this with.
