Ed Sheeran is kind of like that new person your friend brings to pre-drinks. It’s nice to have them around and they’re undoubtedly a nice bloke, but four drinks in and their presence really starts to fucking annoy you. While the chart-topping pop star clearly has an impressive discography with a range of catchy tunes, if you had to listen to it on repeat you’d probably feel like jamming your head in a microwave and hitting auto-defrost.
Which is exactly how the neighbours of Sonia Bryce felt when she blasted Sheeran at full volume over and over again. Bryce must have really been vibing to Ed’s latest smash “Shape of You” because she felt the need to play it on repeat for over half an hour, causing a “wholly unacceptable level of disturbance” according to a judge.
Bryce’s landlords, Walsall Housing Group Ltd, had secured a court order which barred her from creating any nuisance or annoyance. Bryce, like the true party animal she is, has been repeatedly arrested for breaching that injunction and was handed a six-week sentence last December.
After playing Ed’s new song for waaaaay longer than needed and receiving multiple complaints from disgruntled neighbours, old mate Sonia was back in court. The judge gave her an 8-week jail sentence and told the mother of three: “You must learn that you should behave as a reasonable and responsible adult and not make life for your neighbours the misery that you have”.
