Uber wants to pick up and deliver your ‘Donate to Charity’ clothes pile for free

Donating your old clothes to charity is a lovely idea, except it often requires more energy than most in this crazy, chaotic world can muster. Sure, it’s only a simple matter of going through your wardrobe, separating what you need and could live without and then making the migration to your local charity shop to drop off the goods.

Unfortunately, some can’t find the time in the day to do it and the task gets pushed to the back of your mind like you push all the clothes you don’t really need to the back of your wardrobe.

Well, the good folks at Uber have partnered with the Australian Red Cross for the second year in a row to make it super easy to donate, by coming straight to your door to do it for you.

This Sunday, May 28, drivers in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney will happily come to your place between 11 am and 4 pm to collect any items you’ve bagged up for drop-off at a local Red Cross store – free of charge.

Once you’re in the Uber app, all you have to do is slide across to the “CLOTHING DRIVE” option, smash dat request button and a car will arrive ASAP to rid you of your clutter.

The app wants you to keep a few things in mind before you start cleaning house:

Last year’s initiative managed to raise more than $500,000 for the Red Cross, those are some fat stacks. Let’s help to push them to the big $1 mil this year.
