The man responsible for giving us countless enjoyable evenings in front of the television and a thriving meme culture is back and better than ever with a wonderfully whimsical fantasy show featuring an absolutely star-studded cast.
Disenchantment, an animated comedy series from the mastermind of Matt Groening, has recently been greenlighted by Netflix and looks set to hit your screens at some point during 2018.
In the show, viewers will get to experience the adventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her elf companion Elfo (nice) and her personal demon Luci in the magical world of Dreamland. Along the way, the trio will encounter their fair share ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and obviously, lots of human fools.
“Ultimately,” says Matt Groening, “Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”
The series will feature the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson (“Bean”), Nat Faxon (“Elfo”) and Eric Andre (“Luci”), along with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery. Animation is being handled by the good folks at Rough Draft Studios, who actually handled all the animation behind Futurama as well.
“Matt Groening’s brilliant work has resonated with generations around the world and we couldn’t be happier to work with him on Disenchantment,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President, Original Content for Netflix. “The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it’s a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans.”
So there ya go, stay glued to your screens in 2018 and lets hope we’ve all found a new show to relentlessly binge-watch.
